Understanding Neurological Disorders

Neurological disorders affect the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves, leading to problems in movement, sensation, coordination and cognition. Conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, neuropathy and dementia are commonly seen in clinical practice.

In modern medicine, these conditions are related to neuronal degeneration, vascular events, neurotransmitter imbalance and nerve damage. In Ayurveda, they are primarily associated with Vata dosha imbalance, along with involvement of Majja dhatu (nervous tissue) and Manovaha srotas.
